We asked Mieke for a lifestyle shoot a few weeks after our son was born. Her portfolio really appealed to us and it seemed to us a valuable reminder of the first period with our son, as a family of 5. Mieke certainly did not disappoint us. On the day itself I was a bit nervous, but Mieke was very relaxed and just joined the family without being very present. Our daughters aged 2 and 4 were immediately at ease with Mieke. The moment the photos came in in the form of a slideshow I was really moved. Not only our daily life together, but especially the loving moments between us and the children are beautifully captured. It felt like it was still the middle of the night when Mieke was in my living room at 5:00 am with all her suitcases. We went shooting at sunrise in a great nature spot an hour away. While enjoying coffee, Mieke started on my hair and make-up. It was wonderful to fiddle with you, but in addition to that, it was also immediately cozy and relaxed. I don't have many problems with being naked, but I can imagine that it can be a barrier for women to stand (half) naked in front of a camera in a forest. Mieke is really a kind of cheerleader during the shoot. She is very accommodating and always discusses what you like, whether you are okay, what a nice idea is, etc. During the shoot she gives directions in a fun way and enthusiastically shouts how beautiful it will be.
